Overview:

Welcome to Sandplay!   In this introductory workshop, you will receive an overview of the history and theory behind sandplay therapy. Learn the practical issues in Sandplay that will allow you to begin using it in your practice. Join in a discussion and exploration of case material that will help to illustrate how Sandplay process works and participate in an experiential exercise that will give you a taste of what it is like to work in sand.

Learning objectives:

  1. Workshop participants will gain an understanding of or increase their knowledge of Sandplay theory
  2. Workshop participants will gain practical knowledge about the setup, documentation and practice of Sandplay.
  3. Workshop participants will gain insight into how Sandplay fits together with other methods of therapy in the treatment of clients.

Ruth’s bio

Ruth Weinberg LPC, SP is a licensed professional counselor with over 10 years experience working with adults, teens, children and families.  She is certified as a Sandplay practitioner through the Sandplay Therapists of America and an EMDRIA certified EMDR II clinician.  Her specialties include supporting adults, teens, children and families with grief and loss, anxiety, trauma, attachment and relationship difficulties.  She has worked as a therapist in substance abuse, school, Hospice, pregnancy center and mental health agency settings and currently has a private practice in Denver.  To learn more about Ruth, please visit www.ruthweinberg.com or email her at ruth@ruthweinberg.com.

Practicum: Sandplay Essentials

Saturday, September 8th, 2012, 9am – 1pm

This half-day practicum will include a basic introduction/review of Sandplay theory.  We will also discuss practical issues in Sandplay including necessary equipment and where to acquire it, office set up and figure arrangement, documentation, how to introduce and discuss Sandplay with clients and clients’ guardian’s and the use of Sandplay in combination with other therapy methods.  In addition we will be holding a raffle and a silent auction; a great opportunity to win new figures and support CSTA.
